Capt. Indraani Singh
Capt. Indraani Singh, founder of Literacy india and Indhacraft is a pilot with Air India. Being an Independent Person herself she felt it was important she could help women to become an important part of their families by being financial earners. Indraani Singh’s vision towards uplifting rural women from their deprived conditions, through vocational training in tailoring and embroidery, led to the establishment of ‘Indha’ in 2005. What started as a small-scaled initiative with just 10 artisans, has spread across India and touched the lives of scores of women, today. She illuminates the saying- ‘Women are the real architects of society’, quite brilliantly.

Satya Prakash
Satya Prakash, learnt how to multi-task at an early age, when he required money to support his education. At age 5 he became a victim of Polio. Despite all, he had courage to stand to tall and not let it affect him. He took up work as a part-time tutor and studied for his graduation studies in computer science, simultaneously. He started his journey with Literacy India as a faculty and now working as a Indha Craft’s Project Director. A multi-tasker, he organizes sales on behalf of the Indha women, communicates with business partners, promotes marketing & manages both artisan and team work.

Savita’s
Savita’s dream as young girl, was to pave a good career for herself rather than getting married and being a bride. At the age of 20, she graduated with a Diploma degree in embroidery and went on to join Indha as a trainer. Her work includes- conducting vocational training workshops in tailoring, sewing, material identification etc. Savitas enterprising nature has made her very popular with women beneficiaries. She is now Into her 15th year with Literacy India and Indha.

Sarla
Sarla comes from a community, where women are married off at an early age and expected to confine themselves to domestic work and household chores. However, Sarla decided to make her own path, and pursued a course in Embroidery, after which she started working as a Trainer at INDHA. Today, she works as a Master Trainer and supervisor at our Jai Vihar & Sarai centers. She also ensures that the products manufactured at our centers, are handcrafted with recognized standards of production. Sarla is sharp and has a eye for detail. The sessions conducted by her, in tailoring, printing, material identification, embroidery etc. have enabled numerous artisans to stitch various items, such as- bags, table runners, cushion covers, clutches, pouches, home décor items and much more.

Harish
Harish developed a severe eye problem as a 12 year old, after which he had to be operated at least four times. Resilient and sincere, he continued to pursue his goals and did not give up hope or courage. He joined Literacy India’s vocational training course in ‘Computer Applications’, while studying for graduation through Delhi University. A hard-working young man, he passed the course with flying colours and went on to work as a DMS operator for our organization. Today, Harish works as Indha Craft’s e-commerce specialist, warehouse & online sales incharge. He handles INDHA’s online trade & merchandising, on our personal webpage and popular websites such as- Ebay, Flipkart, ShopClues, CraftsVilla, Amazon etc.

Deepshankar Das
Deepshankar Das was born and raised in Assam. His parents worked as government employees and wanted him to pursue a similar occupation. However, creative and artistic, he enjoyed sketching and went on to graduate with a degree in Arts. He now heads Indha Craft’s Paper Unit team and his work includes numerous different tasks, such as- training artisans in manufacturing recycled paper & paper products, conceptualizing new ideas for designing, supervising production, ensuring that Indha Craft maintains quality standards etc.

Ghanshyam
Ghanshyam studied at village and government schools as a child. He joined Literacy India’s vocational training course in ‘Computer Applications’, while studying for graduation in Commerce and learnt “Accounts” by being hands on at Literacy India. Today, he has dual role as Literacy India & Indha Craft’s Accounts Officer and takes care of- daily accounting, sales tax, banking, payable & receivable management etc. Ghanshyam now aspires to pursue an MBA in Finance & Banking and likes to stay well-informed about the new updates in legal and taxation compliances.
